Come join our dynamic, highly skilled Adult Congenital Heart Disease team!

For over 30 years, the UCSF Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Practice has treated adult patients with a wide range of congenital heart conditions, from simple to complex. Advances in surgery, interventional cardiology, and electrophysiology have helped many with severe congenital heart disease live into adulthood. The team of cardiologists specializes in diagnosing and treating these conditions, collaborating with healthcare professionals trained in adult congenital heart disease for the best care.

RN is expected to travel to Mission Bay, Bayfront, and Berkeley clinics.

Under the supervision of the Nursing Director, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Care Center, and in collaboration with the physicians and other clinical staff, the Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care to patients in the General Cardiology practice, supporting the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program. Triages patients and responds appropriately according to protocol and nursing assessment. The Clinical Nurse 2 utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care in this specific cardiology patient population. The Clinical Nurse 2 also provides clinical support to Providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination and continuity of patient care. The Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in person and through telephone and electronic communication. S/he participates in the development and implementation of educational programs and materials for patients and their family members. S/he delivers direct patient care to a variety of patient populations. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient’s physiological and psychosocial development. The Clinical Nurse 2 will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. S/he is responsible for daily clinical operations and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The Clinical Nurse 2 consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. This employee will utilize computer skills in Apex and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. Embraces and consistently role models the UCSF concepts of values: PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence and AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thanks) throughout all interactions with patients, family members, and other employees, both in person and on the phone. The Clinical Nurse 2 will be primarily located at the Mission Bay Cardiology Practice, however, s/he must have flexibility to cover multiple UCSF medical center cardiology clinic sites.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $89.02 - $115.34 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year recent Cardiology experience as a Registered Nurse in an ambulatory practice
  • Minimum six months recent RN experience with heart and vascular services (ie: ACHD, valve and structural heart, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology and heart failure)
  • RN is expected to travel to Mission Bay, Bayfront, and Berkeley clinics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record documentation
  • Experience with Adult and Geriatrics patient population
  • Ability to work competently and efficiently with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Work

License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
